Splashberries – works of art in the ear

Each berry of the Splashberris series is unique – a small work of art in the ear 😊 The series was born in Tanel’s studio during all kinds of colour experiments. The technique of dripping paint with a stick gave the most awesome result in the end, and the process of creating them was pure joy! Splashberries is also a pop-art project of sorts, resulting in eye-catching wearable artworks at affordable prices.

Jackson Pollock

Of course, we cannot overlook the world master of paint dripping, Jackson Pollock (1912-1956). This American artist invented a method of passionately dripping paint and brush around a canvas placed on the floor. Since the whole body was involved in the process, it is also called “action painting”. The artist, who unfortunately passed away in the clutches of alcohol and demons, has become one of the most valued names at auctions – the record for one Pollock is $200 million.

This is how works of art are created in Tanel's studio

Tanel’s assistant Hannes invented the rotating bases and the right colour consistency, and the big painting job could begin. First, we paint an even base, cover it with velvety cosmic dust, and then let the paint drip! The biggest challenge is getting the dosage right so that each berry gets the right amount of spray.

Thank you to everyone who participated in our social media campaign to select the most effective colour combos! Our wearers prefer bold contrasts and electric colour combos. So we can expect a bold summer 😉

But to find the right colour combo, we also dyed different trial berries, and they are now also available in our Roosikrantsi shop. Moreover, they are especially rare, because there are only 2-4 pairs of sample berries of each shade – it’s worth hurrying!

Splashberris come in a special box, which also has a lid with pop splashes. Making them has also been a nice liberating process for Tanel 😉
