It is rare to stage a fashion show of such scale and technical spectacle. The performance by the four Embassy of Fashion designers at the Infotar gala in the National Library was a truly epic experience.
The atrium of Rahvusraamatukogu, with its height and grand staircases, was a formidable challenge.
Blue Silk Serenade
Tanel sent onto the runway a selection of different silks — satin, crepe, raw silk and chiffon — which seemed to transform into ethereal, cloud-like fairies. These flowing, generously cut garments are truly meant to be seen in motion: as one walks, the silk drifts and billows like a fairy’s wing.
A Pastel-hued Pastoral
Tanel softened the vividness of the sunset prints on the fabric and introduced shimmering silver silk. The result was a palette of cool yet invitingly picturesque colour compositions.
Crimson Fabric Cantata
The red borrowed from the sunset was turned up to its maximum intensity, resulting in a series of deep crimson cloud-like compositions. The models quite literally had their heads in the clouds, wearing headpieces crafted from tulle clouds.
Dances of Turquoise Skies
On the runway, there were also several pastel Unimoons and entirely new rain capes. For some of the cloud-like compositions, Tanel turned to Aili Vint’s brilliant geometric colour theories in search of inspiration. As in this flowing chiffon ceremonial dress.
A deep bow to the organisers (especially chief dramaturge Mart Mikk), the client, and all the assistants. The make-up was created by Katrin Sangla’s team, and hairstyles were handled by Aili Larsen’s wonderful team. All models were from the Estonian Model Agency. The performance was directed by Arolin Raudva.
