The fashion collection “Unimoon” combines designer Tanel Veenre’s fascination with Estonian national embroidery with his personal memories of Estonia. As with many of his collections, “Unimoon” is rooted in childhood—song and dance festivals, whether held in Tallinn or Intsikurmu. These moments have nurtured the young artist’s love for colour and pattern.
The collection took on new momentum in midwinter, when Tanel became acquainted with the collections of the Estonian National Museum. At home, experimenting digitally with materials, traditional embroidery began to merge with motifs from his personal world: bullfinches landing in lilac bushes on crisp winter days; childhood memories of counting ladybug spots; his mother’s favourite flowers—bleeding hearts and forget-me-nots; picking wild strawberries despite swarms of mosquitoes. In addition, white apples, crowned frogs, dragonflies and snails, beetles and bees, mushrooms and mosquitoes… All these small symbols together create a sense of home. And of course—the spirit animal: a crowned seahorse, floating in a dreamlike universe.
With varied colour combinations and comfortable cuts, the garments feel like urban folk costumes. All unique fabrics in the collection are designed by Tanel Veenre and suit different body types.
The collection is created following zero-waste principles—each item is unique and printed using exactly the amount of fabric needed for its production. Every leftover piece is given new life in pouch bags or belts.
