Our muses – shining BPW Estonia women

Tanel enjoyed participating in a colourful event with his creations – the legendary charity BPW Estonia hat party. BPW Estonia was founded in 1992 and has grown into today’s 200-member union. Charity is close to the heart of the enterprising ladies, and the main event is the annual hat party. The glamorous event organised by the Tallinn club marks the beginning of a new season for women and allows doing good in style. This year, EENA’s charity hat party “Fairy tale” took place in the magical Maarjamäe castle, where Tanel Veenre’s dreamy world of silk blended perfectly.

This year, the BPW Estonia women collected 1,600 euros for the NGO Lapsed Lähisuhtevägivallas (children in intimate partner violence) with a charity hat party.

But what do fashion and style mean for businesswomen?

BPW Estonia club member Teele Palmre recalls:

“One of the first encounters with fashion was Carrie Bradshaw
From the “Sex and the City” series, I always admired her feminine, refined, yet playful style. During school times, I also sewed myself some dresses inspired by Carries’ look with my mother’s sewing machine. I think fashion is an opportunity to express oneself – mood, personality and emotions. For example, when I’m tired, I put on something comfortable. When I feel like taking over the world, I put on a red dress. But if I want to give a more professional, serious impression, I wear a jacket, a white T-shirt, jeans and high heels. I believe that what I wear makes me who I am. I love wearing colour and it brings out my more passionate side. I like to dress feminine, because I think that women give the world a sensual touch with their presence, which a historically more masculine world needs.”

Jolan Henriette Koduvere, BPW Estonia’s communications manager, adds: “I have been surrounded by the world of design since I was little, as my mother is a seamstress and also deals with re-design, i.e. giving a new life to items left in closets. My style has also been different from the crowd since I was young. I am especially fascinated by colour and pattern combinations, which may be too bold for some. But I like to be different. When choosing clothes, the main thing is that you feel beautiful and confident in them. My choice of clothes and bold combinations often catch the eye of others and this increases my self-confidence. Fashion is an opportunity to reflect your character and highlight your uniqueness. When the clothes and accessories are chosen, the whole thing is on and you feel that you can achieve everything – it’s a wonderful feeling that cannot be put into words. That kind of shine catches everyone’s eye and it’s incredible to think how powerful the style actually is.”
