Tanel’s new fashion collection Unimoon is floating in the epic heights of the Solaris atrium until June 1st.
This exhibition is worth visiting not just for the visual experience – there’s also a raffle on site, with a grand prize of €1,000 worth of Tanel’s silk and jewelry.
“I was struck by a vision – to present my collection as a floating choir, rather than the usual catwalk. That’s how the idea of an exhibition was born. While looking for a venue, the 30-meter-high atrium in Solaris stood out. Since I’ve had a good collaboration with Solaris before, the decision came together quickly!
Although the technical part was just beginning… and it turned out to be much more back-breaking than expected. Together with my fantastic assistant Hannes, we built the lightest possible torsos, and then, with the help of nearly a kilometer of steel cable and an alpinist, we hoisted them up to the ceiling.”
We’ll soon be sharing a more in-depth story of how the collection came to life, but as you can already see from the photos – this is Tanel’s vision of Estonian national embroidery.
He began by diving into the collections of the Estonian National Museum with white gloves, then continued exploring digital archives from home, painting his way through patterns, and finally transforming all that beauty into digital garment cuts.
This is how Tanel’s world of native motifs was born. Unimoon, inspired by Estonia, is his most extensive silk collection to date.
On the evening of May 22nd, a group of Tanel’s friends and kindred spirits gathered on the balcony of the Solaris atrium to open the exhibition together. For Tanel, these kinds of gatherings are becoming increasingly meaningful:
“I feel that as we get older, we tend to retreat more and more into our own cozy corners. So I try to find creative reasons to bring dear people together. To hug friends. These moments matter!”
Tanel’s exhibition Unimoon at the Solaris atrium is open for everyone to explore until June 1st. But you can already browse and shop all products right here in our online store. The one-of-a-kind pieces displayed at the exhibition will be available for shipping starting June 2nd 😊
