You are one of the few who has brought pin-up culture to Estonia, convincingly blending erotica and theatre. How did this journey begin? Do you remember your first attempts in this direction?
My grandmother worked as a seamstress at the Vanemuine Theatre, and because of that I was fascinated by costumes, wigs, backstage life, and makeup already as a child — all that magic! I think I tried making my first wig when I was about seven, but it didn’t turn out well. I started sewing vintage clothes to fit me when I was a teenager. My biggest inspiration back then was Marlene Dietrich. Luckily, nowadays you can also find remake vintage lingerie and stockings. In the past it was impossible to find anything suitable! I achieve the vintage silhouette with the right underwear. The key lies in the details!
Who are your idols that you follow? Please share some links and recommendations…
I follow interesting personalities and, of course, inspiring performers. A lot of Finnish people, since I grew up there and the language feels like home. And of course, cats!
Hasard le Sin is one of my absolute favourites on stage.
Lisbeth’s feed is just so badass – inspiring in every way!
Mona Bling, a trans woman and feminist, who speaks about important societal pain points.
She probably doesn’t need an introduction.

For many people, shyness is certainly the barrier that stops them from showing themselves the way you do. How would you encourage women to be more open and more tolerant towards their bodies? How did you become friends with your own body, and where can one find the courage?
It’s not just a personal issue for women. It’s very hard to be tolerant toward your own body when society is built in a way that criticizes you no matter what you do or how you look. The diet culture is so deeply rooted that before you can fight against it and become friends with your body, you first need to understand how it works.

What is your relationship with accessories? What are your favourites?
I never leave the house without a silk scarf because it’s so versatile and indispensable in every season. I use it to shield my hair or updo from the Tallinn wind, make a turban, wear it as a scarf, or protect my shoulders from the sun in summer. I also wear a lot of earrings made by Estonian artists. 😆 When the silk scarf on my head replaces a hairstyle, the earrings replace makeup.

Since you are, so to speak, a time-traveller yourself – how do you relate to contemporary fashion and the whirlwind of trends?
Fashion always draws inspiration from the past, and for me it’s interesting to see how an artist puts their own signature on things. It’s also exciting to watch how today’s young people wear and style items that were in fashion when I was a teenager.
